Horror DVD Releases – Week of January 19th, 2010

netflix’s annoying deal to implement a 28-day waiting window for warner brothers new releases is now in full effect, so that means you’ll need to wait a month to see WHITEOUT (if you were so inclined) unless you want to buy it or rent it elsewhere. PANDORUM looks more interesting to me, so i’ll be checking that out soon and will catch WHITEOUT next month…

(descriptions from Netflix and BestBuy)

Pandorum (2009)
Upon rousing themselves from hyper-sleep, Payton (Dennis Quaid) and Bower (Ben Foster), a pair of crewmen assigned to work on a spacecraft, discover startling gaps in their collective memory — including who they are and what, exactly, their mission was in the first place. The plot thickens when they realize they’re not the only ones on board the ship. Cam Gigandet co-stars in this gripping sci-fi thriller.

(2009)
A U.S. marshall tracking a vicious murderer through the Antarctic must locate the killer before the sun sets for six months, or risk being trapped in the dark with the madman for months on end in director Dominic Sena’s adaptation of the graphic novel series by Greg Rucka.

Blood Creek (2009)
When a family agrees to host an occult-obsessed Nazi scholar in their West Virginia farmhouse prior to World War II, they’re transformed into his undead slaves and must kidnap local victims to feed his bloodlust. Years later, an abducted war hero (Dominic Purcell) breaks free from the zombie family’s clutches, rounds up his brother (Henry Cavill) and returns to the wilderness for payback. Joel Schumacher directs this supernatural horror flick.
